Two Door Cinema Club – Undercover Martyn

'It is upbeat, optimistic and catchy...'

Released 22nd February 2010

Kitsuné Music

Two Door Cinema Club
clearly know what works when it comes to creating a indie – rock vibe. They take the foundations of the genre and step it up a gear with more of an electronic feel. It is an already established formula, and results in them making a song that can easily rival the likes of Bloc Party and Foals.

Although this is a sound that has been created many times before you can’t help but feel an attachment to this song. It is upbeat, optimistic and catchy with a chorus that makes ‘Undercover Martyn’ a track to listen to again and again.

However the opening of the song certainly isn’t putting this band in the best light, as you immediately feel like you are listening to The Wombats. It isn’t until you give the song a chance and carry on listening that you get an appreciation of what they are doing.

This is the second single released from the debut album Tourist History from a band that have the honour of, according to the BBC, being a ‘sound of 2010’.  On the evidence of this song alone, perhaps that title is little a strong.
