Sunset Drive – We’ve Got To Talk

No unnecessary effects just a band that has managed to capture authenticity.

Released 19th July, on Second Drip

Sunset Drive
are a three piece consisting of a guitarist and drummer from Japan and a singer from New Zealand that certainly isn’t short of experience. Front man Alastair first found fame in New Zealand’s own Eight, a band who have a gold-selling album and support slots for Incubus and Creed under their belts.

After gaining a fan base in their homelands with the self-released debut EP ‘It’s All You’, ‘We’ve Got To Talk’ is the follow up and is Sunset Drive introducing their sound to the UK.

They keep the sound simple, no unnecessary effects just a band that has managed to capture authenticity that rival bands Blur and Oasis became famous for; essentially what is needed to cement them as honest and pure.

‘We’ve Got To Talk’ highlights a no-holds barred attitude. With lyrics such as ‘It’s too late when the ships have arrived, to tell me the dreams of your life,’ this opening track comes with a message of talking to prevent conflicts which may consume you.

Although there isn’t a distinctive new air about Sunset Drive this doesn’t by any means make them dated. They draw clear influence from the indie pop era of the 90’s and have to be given credit for keeping their sound raw and true to the genre. Perfect for those who like a bit of easy listening.
