Lostprophets - Where We Belong

'There is a real sense of progression with this release, a more mature approach and a clearer direction...'

The second release from the eagerly anticipated album, The Betrayed, ‘Where We Belong’ has been worth the delay.

A more mellow and relaxed offering from the Welsh six-piece compared to their usual characteristic sound that made us stop and pay attention. With crowd pleasing lyrics this song is atmospheric and catchy, with a chanting chorus which gives front man Ian Watkins the chance to show off the range in his voice.

There is a real sense of progression with this release, a more mature approach and a clearer direction. Compared to the singles realised from previous album ‘Liberation Transmission’ a voice has been found. One album’s worth of scrapped songs later Pontypridd’s finest have their inspiration and a new found strength. ‘I know these times are grave and I’m living under, I know I’ll be ok with the rain or thunder’ and ‘I’ll make it through each day...I won’t let it bring me down.’ show a darker, more cynical side to the band; possibly a reaction to them being up against a producer wanting to take away the signature sound that they were so recognised for?

‘Where We Belong’
is Lostprophets at their best, giving the fans who wavered with Liberation Transmission a reason to come back.
