Unknown Suffolk five-piece Life & Times Of have apparently only played five live shows and with offerings like this it’s not surprising.
They appear to be trying to be experimental and push the boundaries with their sound but there is such a thing called musicianship, something which should be mastered before attempting the complex.
‘Ballet’ is the better of the two tracks, with the moody vocals assisted by slow guitars and a gentle drumbeat, however it hardly inspires.
‘Greasy Magpie’ is an eerie offering that starts relatively sedately but gets darker and has particularly annoying tuneless vocals which add very little. The song shifts one way and another not finding a path that suits it and unfortunately ending in disappointment.
The two tracks are available for free download and with offerings like ‘Ballet’ and ‘Greasy Magpie’ they’ll have trouble giving them away. Life & Times Of need to go back to the drawing board.
