Glenn Meling - All You Can Do

'exactly what you would expect to hear winning a student union song contest...'

Released 01/02/10

The music industry can be an unforgiving place for aspiring artists. And it seems to have been particularly so for singer-songwriter Glenn Meling. Playing open mic nights and struggling to hold bands together, the Norwegian has finally settled enough to record as a solo artist.

Though he is yet to find a label, Glenn’s latest single 'All You Can Do' and full-length Sometimes a Bigger Heart are available for free download. And his energetic rock sound with Bono-esque vocals is bound to pick up a few fans.

It surely won’t make him though. Many similar acts don’t have the production nous to come up with something this tight and clear. And there’s no doubting his ability to write a catchy song - in this case an apparently self-referential tune about giving your all. But this is still exactly what you would expect to hear winning a student union song contest or playing on the local band stage at Glastonbury.

If you’re going to go for a big stadium sound sound it needs that U2 power and rock-star aura. Plenty have got on the first rung to succeed the Irish four-piece and there’s every chance of Glenn Meling getting that far too. But there’s a similar act jostling for positon in every town.
