Released 29.06.09 – Young & Lost
Don’t be confused by the achingly dreadful pun of a band name (the worst since… ooh… The Beatles?), you are not entering a fun zone when choosing to listen to this debut single by the solo project of Nathan Hewitt, guitarist of Little Death. The aesthetic here is all lo-fi, inward looking, mussed up bed hair and holey jeans, making a cut’n’paste zine about your mates-ness. ‘Warrior’ is a mumbled, fuzzy pean to random stimuli which causes the narrator to experience vague feelings about stuff. It’s very C86, Californian vibes via London student bedsit.Second track ‘Minotaur’ exerts itself a little more, managing some My Bloody Valentine feedback squalls before giving up, bored, just past the two minute mark and wondering off to make beans on toast and watch Neighbours.
In summery, then: nebulous, but artfully so.
