Charlotte Gainsbourg – Time Of The Assassins

'duller than watching paint dry on a wet winter’s day...'

Released through Because Music  on May 10th

Taken from the critically acclaimed album IRM, her second single Time Of The Assassins sees Gainsbourg take a soft and gentle approach to creating an acoustic ballad that is duller than watching paint dry on a wet winter’s day.

Granted the lyrics are showing a dark and meaningful side that begins to draw you in to a sense of anguish; I open the wound. That keeps me in line. The shoulder that turns. The flame that goes out. The chapter I close’, but added to repetitive music the whole song turns out flat and weak. It fails to reach any high point or any moment where you would think ‘yeah let’s play that one again’.

Expect to find this song appearing on one of those ‘chilled out’ albums kept in the CD bargain bin.
