Camden, folk- punk rockers Captain Black could, should, be huge. They’re just the right of accessible; not as floaty as Fleet Foxes, and with a lead singer with whose voice hasn’t yet been decimated by the perils pleasure (unlike the cited and obvious influence The Pogues).
Fancy a bit of stomp-a-long Clash? ‘East London Walls’ will take of that. Want some soul? ‘Sister’ then. Need a full on Guiness fuelled party tune to bring the ceiling down? Look no further than the mighty, mighty ‘Come On Up To The House.’
Unlike most relatively small bands Myspace selections, there is absolutely on filler on here. Every one sounds like a single and, in a time where folky sounds are undergoing a massive renaissance, these guys could very easily take up the chart bothering middle ground between Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and the wonderful soon-to-be-huge Kill It Kid. Each is a sing-a-along, with harmonies and jangly guitars reigning strong throughout. See these at a festival and they will surely fly.
