Amorphous Androgynous

Then bloody Noel Gallagher turns up calling it ‘the best album of this or any other year’

So you’re working on a new project, it’s a psychedelic composition, some new, some old; you’re very happy with it but don't expect immediate success; a bit of a slow burner you suspect.

Then bloody Noel Gallagher turns up calling it ‘the best album of this or any other year’ in Rolling Stone Magazine.  Before you know it he’s bought ten copies and he’s giving them out to all his pals, one of whom is that guy who used to be in the Jam, you know the singer. Paul Wethers.

Noel then says he wants you to remix the track Falling Down and that you can ‘do what the fuck you want with it…just make it worthy.’  He also wants you to dj at his Wembley aftershow gig and also at his mam’s birthday party.

Well, I say ‘you’, but it’s only ‘you’ if you are Gary Cobain and Brian Dougans formerly of electronic pioneers Future Sound of London.

To fill in the blanks, their new project is the rather fantastically named Amorphous Androgynous and the reworked compilation album is called ‘A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble’ (which the NME gave 9/10 by the way). And it isn't just NME, Time Out called it 'the best compilation album ever'.  Everyone in the music press, it seems, is raving about this album!

If you thought psychedelia made a comeback in 2008 then it appears to have just been the beginning. 2009 could well be the year of modern psychedelia and also the rise of the AA.  That reminds me.  I’ve a meeting on Tuesday.

Check out what Noel (and everyone else) is banging on about here: -
