First Aid Kit stepped on stage and with effortless ease began to captivate those in attendance.

Swedish sisters Johanna and Klara Soderberg make up First Aid Kit and in a tightly packed venue created an air of tranquillity and serenity with their folk-pop stylings. In a 45 minute set there was track after track of delightful short and sweet tunes and even an impromptu rendition of happy birthday for one member of the audience.

After support Ryan Lauder delivered an excellent acoustic set, First Aid Kit stepped on stage and with effortless ease began to captivate those in attendance. At only 16 and 19 there were no nerves apparent and it is no wonder with songs like ‘Hard Beli
ever,’ a glorious melody paired with sunshine vocals that lit up the room. By popular request they played Fleet Foxes’ ‘Tiger Mountain Peasant Song,’ which was especially well received. ‘Waltz For Richard’ continued the enjoyment as vocal harmonies complimented the gentle guitar playing.

A hushed silence had descended but only due to the audience showing their appreciation for the quality of the music. ‘Ghost Town’ followed as the magical melodies continued and wistful lyrics flowed; ‘If you’ve got visions of the past let them follow you down/For they’ll come back to you some day.’ ‘Tangerine’ delicately drifts along and is once again made the better for the outstanding vocal harmonies which are clearly the trademark of the band.

They stepped briefly off stage and returned for a short encore and saved a gem of a song until last. ‘I Met Up With A King’ is another beautifully crafted tune which aided by the vocal musings of the two sisters created a euphoric atmosphere. They even played one last song amongst the crowd, as the stage was cleared and was a suitable end to a stunning performance.
