Following on from her Christmas Number One, Alexandra Burke’s version of ‘Hallelujah’ has been declared the top selling single of 2008.  The song, which has stayed at Number 1 for a second week,  beat the X Factor Finalist's version of Mariah Carey’s ‘Hero’ into second place.



The highest placed artist not to have come directly from The X Factor was Duffy, who finished at number 3 with ‘Mercy’. Other artists to finish in the top 10 were Katy Perry, Kings Of Leon and the execrable Basshunter.  The full list is as follows:
