No Age in Censorship Row

Band forced to alter clothing for TV appearance.

LA noisenik duo No Age were made to change their clothing before appearing in a high-profile slot on American broadcaster CBS's The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Guitarist Randy Randall was wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the image of current US Presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The band had finished rehearsals and were about to take their place on set when a representative from CBS allegedly told Randall to change his shirt, citing the Equal Time Rule from the Communications Act of 1934, a law designed to give political candidates equivalent airtime on major American TV and radio broadcasts.

No Age claim that they were perfectly within their rights to wear the t-shirt, but eventually compromised with CBS, obscuring the image of Obama, and instead scrawling "Free Health Care" across it.

The episode will air at the end of the month.
