Lily Allen, the hard-drinking, hard-swearing popstar, has announced that her second album will be released on the 9th February, 2009. Entitled "It's Not Me, It's You", it will be the follow up to her debut album "Alright, Still", which has sold more than 1.8 million copies since its release in 2006.
The news has come out in a hail of provocative PR from the singer's label, seeking to announce Allen as "the Wordsworth of the Myspace generation", and describing her lyrics as what Alan Bennett might produce, were he transformed into a 23-year old female singer.
The PR release opened with a lyric from the new album:
"Now I lie here in the wet patch in the middle of the bed,
I'm feeling pretty damn hard done by, I've spent ages giving head".
The Guardian has tracked down the singer's press machine to question these claims, with interesting results...
