Style over substance, hence the inclusion in the OC play-list which says a lot about who their target audience is.  They are described as an ‘art-rock’ band and are noted for their ‘live performance where they maintain eye contact with the audience.’  Big wow!

I prefer to think of them as faux-pretentious smug bastards who have made a lot out of not very much - they have only a couple of good songs and even ‘Take Me Out’ didn’t stand the test of time.  In short, they were good for about half an hour but five years on they still peddle the same shit that they have been doing since day one.

But you know what annoys me most about Franz Ferdinand?  It is the comparisons with Talking Heads.  Can we all stop doing this please?  Talking Heads were one of the most innovative acts to grace popular music and have had many brilliant songs - all of which sound completely different.  Franz have ‘Take Me Out’.

Talking Heads and David Byrne were/are brilliant.  Franz Ferdinand are not.
