Foo Fighers

It’s not that I hate the Foo Fighters as such, and that Dave Grohl bloke does seem a thoroughly decent chap. I probably wouldn’t mind them so much if they hadn’t sold countless millions of records and were capable of selling out stadiums for three nights in a row.

They play their instruments well and some of their guitar riffs are pretty good, it is just that the end product is so bloody two dimensional and boring.

As for Dave Grohl’s ‘singing’, that ain’t singing it is just shouting mate.  They say they were heavily influenced by the quiet/loud style of Nirvana (obviously) and bands like the Pixies, but I see a world of difference in the music of these two compared to the Foo Fighters.  In record sales they are one of the biggest bands in the world and I just don’t get why.  If any band around today is the emperor’s new clothes for me, sorry to piss on your parade Dave but the Foo Fighters are it.

I'm afraid I have to agree with this article. Although once a great fan of theirs with an account on their Postboard, the day they released One By One was the day they seemed to decide to put their feet up and stop really trying anymore. I've never seen them play and used to really want to more than anything else, but with each album they release now comes more apathy towards them.

Yeah, I have to agree there. The foo's, I own a few albums so I feel I can call them that are kinda one of those bands you feel are destined to be one of those bands destined to stadium rockers dying for a greatest hits album. Which is a shame, even tunes such as 'Generator' and 'Walking After you' really make following them worthwhile. Still their cover of 'Band on the Run' is a shocker, so swings and roundabouts I guess.

I have to disagree. I LOVE Foo Fighters. They have fantastic melodies, some songs you can mosh to, some songs you can dance to, some songs you could even sit back and reflect to. As for Dave not being able to sing and just "shout" I completely disagree. On such songs as "Tired of you" and "My Hero" and ofcourse the whole of the second disc to the "In Your Honour" album he truely shows what a great singer and talnted musician he really is. The problem is alot of people just rely on what the Foo's release (and to be honest I dont exactly blame them). To truly hear their magic sound you have to get the albums. I recommend The Colour & The Shape and One by One
