Tom Waits is set to debut his new single ‘Woof’ on The X Factor. In an exclusive interview with Gobshout News, the American troubadour has come out and said that he’s ‘always loved the show. The talent they produce just cannot be argued with. First Shane Ward, then Leona! Both these guys are real heroes of mine, though I’m not sure about the little Scottish fella from last year.’
Waits also went on to say that his as-yet-untitled new album was going to explore radically different directions. ‘I feel like I’ve done the seedier side of the coin, y’know. There comes a time when you just want to break out a few well choreographed dance moves, and I feel I’m getting to that time. I’ve done the intelligent stuff, the difficult stuff, the heartbreakers, the stories. Now I want to do the fun stuff.
This is the 21st century for chrissakes! I’m sure the fans don’t want another ‘Bone Machine.’
Upon being told by this rather dedicated Waits loving writer that they would love to hear another ‘Bone Machine’, Waits immediately threw his hat in the air: ‘Rubbish! Times have changed. You’ll see, you’ll love the new album. I’ve got Xenomania involved- look what they did for Girls Aloud. I told them when we started that we weren’t leaving the studio until we come up with another ‘Something Kinda Oooh'. and I think with ‘Woof’ we’ve done that.’
