A spokesman for The XX has said the band are 'absolutely furious' at a tribute band which has been touring central Europe while playing their material.
Belgian white supremacists have formed an XX tribute band called The SS. They copy the all black dress-code of The XX but crucially have added Nazi symbolism.
The XX were very unhappy about this and made the following statement through their record company: 'We, The XX, are absolultely furious to learn that these people are doing this in our name. We completely disassociate ourselves from them and we demand that they stop touring immediately.'
The SS however have defended their version of the band and say they fail to see what they are doing wrong.
A spokesman for The SS said: 'They shouldn't be so sensitive. This really is a dream job for us, we get to combine all our hobbies! We love The XX. We love Nazis. We love playing music - it's perfect!
Just because we are bunch of racists doesn't mean we are not entitled to have a good time. In fact we would love to support them on tour!'
The SS are currently touring Europe along with several other racist tribute acts, among them White (Power) Snake and Ku Klux Klannad.
