As some of you might know, Roskilde Festival takes place over 8 whole days. Well, that's how it used to be anyway. This year, to prevent people from knocking over the fence, the festival had decided to open even earlier; saturday night at 6pm. I went on a train at 10 in the morning and just made it to Roskilde town, when I got a message from my friends that the fence had been knocked down. So I once again missed the grand opening of the campsite... This again resulted in it being extremely hard to find a good camping spot (that combined with moving the Service Centers) and means we all have to walk for miles... And I've already got blisters the size of a small african country under my feet thanks to a combination of cowboy boots and having to walk from Roskilde Town to the festival site because they hadn't put in the shuttle buses yet - it's only about two miles, but with massive bags it feels like a marathon...
Negatives aside, it's been amazing as always. So far the two brightest moments for me have been Danish Kandy Kolored Tangerine's gig on Pavillion Jr, the upcoming stage which is open during the warm up, and randomly walking into a classical youth string ensemble playing by the Agora towers.. No where else but at big festivals. Kandy Kolered Tangerine delievered superb desert rock with a great feel for melody and chord sequence.. Perfect for a lazy summer night, trust me...
Other than that, I have to say my first two days are slightly blurred by Mezcal (complete with worm and all) and the scorching sun. Once again the weather is superb (apart from of course when you forget to apply sun screen to your back...silly Cecilie) and the campsite is filled with happy, half-naked people...I'm not gonna complain!
So, I'm gonna go back out in the sun, enjoy some more overpriced Tuborg (at least it's semi-cold), maybe even build up a tan, and get back to you tomorrow... if the Mezcal hasn't gotten the best of me!
