We meet Bodebrixen in a cool spot in the shadows behind the Arena Stage. Bodebrixen has existed as a band for about 3 years and up until six months ago was a ten man orchestra, but they since have chosen to leave out the brass section at live performances.
So, it's been a couple of days since you played your gig at Pavillion Jr. Was it as good as you'd expected?
Better than expected! It was our best gig ever.
After playing Spot Festival you've been given many offers and have just played a gig in Italy. How did the audience recieve you and your music in Italy?
It was overwhelming! The audience immediately loved the music and the record company had done everything to make it a great experience, such as buying us a big bubble machine to bring on stage.
So what's gonna be the next foreing adventures for you?
We'll be playing in London in September but we don't know exactly where yet. Apart from that we're touring Denmark in September and October.
At your concerts there are just as many balloons as you'd expect to find at a childrens party and there are balloons aplenty in your music videos as well. What's the deal with those balloons?!
The balloons symbolise happiness and partying, but they also relate to something naïve and childish. Soap bubbles have the same effect. We'd bought a bubble machine in Italy, but it didn't seem to work when we got on stage (at Pavillion Jr.)..
You also get the impression from your songs and videos that you like Sweden a lot. What's your relation to that country?
Andreas (lead vocals) is half Swedish... And they have so much great swedish pop music. We wouldn't really mind being a swedish band...
So what other bands are you gonna see at this festival then?
Håkan Hellstrøm! And probably Gang Gang Dance and Fleet Foxes...
As our last question, we've noticed that you often wear some very special clothes at gigs; sailors clothes at Roskilde Festival and matching accessories of pearls at Spot. Who designs your clothes?
It's a designer from Århus named Lisbeth Solsøe. She has her own brand called Listetå and a shop in Århus. She saw us at a gig and felt inspired by our music and would like to create some clothes for us to wear at concerts, which suited us just fine as we'd had some really long discussions about what to wear on stage and never really seemed to be able to find the right clothes.
Thanks for talking, Bodebrixen!
