Britney Spears - Womanizer

After mentally collapsing several times Britney's finally hitting the headlines for a different kind of breakdown

Label: BMG

Release Date: 3/11/08

It seems pointless to delve deeply into Britney’s catastrophic meltdown of late, simply because it has become one of the most publicised public breakdowns in history. But despite this it feels necessary to mention it, no matter how painfully obvious it may be.

The past few years have seen the once unstoppable musical domination of the platinum blonde girl-next-door basically…well, stop. And pretty abruptly at that. Through a scandalous whirlwind of head shaves, drunken marriages, poor parenting and all round emotional cataclysm Britney’s private life has unwillingly gorged the salivating mouths of gossip columnists worldwide. Her career seemed apocalyptic. Well, that was until someone dragged her into the studio, propped her up in front of the mic and recorded Blackout; simply her best, most sophisticated album to date.

No surprises then that new single Womanizer (from aptly titled new album Circus) is a large chunk of a tasty pop pie Britney has been cooking up for some time now. Well-written catchy melodies accompanied by pounding beats ensure this latest offering will be a massive hit. Lyrically speaking it’s not exactly groundbreaking; ‘womanizer, woma-womanizer, oh womanizer, oh you’re a womanizer baby’ but in the world of memorable dance hits that’s hardly a priority and it’s certainly not how Britney became the star she is today.

Hell, if one listen to the track doesn’t convince then just watch the music video for a demonstration of role-playing at it’s hottest. If a sexy secretary Britney, a rock star barmaid Britney and a god damn naked Britney don’t sway the decision then I don’t know what will. After effortlessly snapping up 3 MTV VMA’s this year it’s time to hail the unexpected. Welcome back Miss Spears.

Haha, I like the song, i think it's catchy and fun. She's obviously not climbed fully onto the wagon yet but she's definitely got her act together a lot more solidly than last year. This is a comeback from the fans perspective.

....I like her outfits in the video too. I like her wigs more though.

I think that the writer of this article is either deaf or blind or possibly both. Britney is obviously still in the midst of a breakdown and has probably been pushed into doing another album so there is less focus on the said meltdown. Therefore, because she's obviously had her own say on the songs/videos, it's been a complete nightmare. Who, in their right mind, would ever decide to dress up in such disgusting wigs and release a song with no melodic variety or original song lyrics? I think its a total shame she isn't spending longer on a break and focusing instead on bringing up her children.
