I love Black Sabbath. They are a great band and the undisputed founders of the Heavy Metal movement. This was Sabbath's eighth studio album, and may well have been the last great album they made before Ozzy was replaced with Dio.
Bill Ward and Tony Iommi's ways of playing their instruments has always been out of the top drawe. Iommi with his missing finger playing solos that some people dare not even think about; Bill Ward and his adrenaline charged drum concoctions highlight this album. It really shows on songs like "Junior's Eyes and Johnny Blade".
This album features another singer from Fleetwood Mac, Savoy Brown, and there are a few songs here that Savoy did while Ozzy took his vacation. Surely the fact that a singer from Fleetwood Mac had to come and sing in this album proves how fast the band was unravelling!
Ozzy and Geezer considered this album one of the worst they ever did, but some, like me, beg to differ. While this album did not gain much press like Paranoid or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, it still has a place in music history.
