Who are Godzilla Black? Good question - I can't tell you little about who they are, where they're from or what it is that they're probably plotting on doing to us,as they seem to be a rather elsuive band to find any information on. Its entirely possible (and seemingly likely as well) that they are superheroes, super villains or operating out a a mad scientists lab somewhere.. I wouldnt care to guess. What I can tell you is that none of it matters.
This album is brilliant.
From somewhere in the UK, Godzilla Black bring 2010 some musical relief, Veering wildly between Eagles of Death Metal style vocal sneering and Demonic Beach Boys guitar riffs, Godzilla Black have done the unthinkable - and created something new and interesting in a world full of indie.
'From here to Clare' is a shining moment of pure fancily dressed, alcohol fuelled insanity; with a womans screams bringing the track to a stop mid way through, before the guitars kick back in- now momentarily complimented by this eerie 50's wailing- making you feel you have been well and truly monster mashed.
Deranged and debauched instrumentals crop up throughout the album, and vocals are used sparingly to wonderful effect. Fantastic multi layered production paired with psychotic rockabilly guitars and drumming on tracks like 'First Bite In' or 'Burning Wires' simply make you want to run away into the sunset with a zombie.
Godzilla Black are not for the faint hearted, or possibly the sane...but this album is delicious in its madness.
