Released 8th September (UMTV)
Come on, with a band name like that, how are you supposed to pass this up? If, like me, you’re expecting the latest saccharine release from the C-Beebies stable, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Turns out Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick Tich (I thought the point of acronyms was to shorten the length?!) are a cheerful hybrid of all things 60’s rock psychadelica and hold the rather impressive title of spending more weeks in the UK Singles Chart than The Beatles between 1965 and 1969.
Consider my eyebrows raised.
While it’s obvious they’re not likely to be toppling the Beatles anytime soon, they offer a great, melodious alternative full of offbeat ideas – whether it’s Spaghetti Western/Carribean mash ups, Mighty Boosh-esque talkovers or seemingly predictable ballads that erupt into Russian chanting.
As you do.
If you fancy listening to a time when rock was merry, hippy and slightly bonkers, you really can’t go wrong with this.
