Danny and The Champions Of The World - Streets Of Our Time

'the album has a fantastic mix of bouncy and low tempo songs ...'

Released on Loose Music

At first listen Danny and Co sound very much like a country/folky Stereophonics. This album has come out at the right time with a real summer feel to each song, especially ‘Streets Of Our Time’. A relaxing sound of country folk that at times may seem almost too relaxing, but for me it works and the album has a fantastic mix of bouncy and low tempo songs that flow together nicely.

The title track seems to be about exactly what it says
- making the most of the time we have now and reflecting on the lost love who he wishes he was with now. At times the lyrics seem quite depressing but the gentle catchy sounds of the banjo and guitar give it a hopeful sound rather than the sadness that the words suggest.

What’s great about this album is that as much as it doesn’t grab with the powerful sounds of hard drums or thrashing guitar, it does affect you with its meaningful and eloquent lyrics. Although I don’t think they will attract many young fans I am sure Danny and the Champions of the World will be at a few festivals in the summer, so look out for their name in the line up and see them if you have the chance; I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Definitely worth a listen!
